Old stumps and rough, uneven ground are one of those problems that just sit there. You know the spot - overgrown, root-bound, impossible to use for anything. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this one. Stumps buried in roots, rocks mixed into the soil, and ground that hadn't been touched in years.

We ran our Takeuchi TB335R compact excavator through the whole area. That machine punches well above its weight class - tight enough to work close to the treeline without tearing up surrounding turf, but powerful enough to rip stumps out root system and all. No grinding, no leaving the root mass to rot underground. We pulled them clean.

Once the stumps were out, we got into the grading work. What was a mess of roots, rocks, and broken ground got worked down into a flat, usable surface. That's where light excavation really earns its value - it's not just about removing what's in the way, it's about setting the ground up for whatever comes next. New lawn, a pad, a garage, a garden - the area is ready for it.

A job like this takes patience. You can't rush stump removal if you want it done right. Ripping out a root ball the wrong way tears up more ground than necessary and leaves you with a bigger mess to grade. We work methodically - pull the stump, clean the hole, move the material, and keep grading as we go. The result speaks for itself.

We still have openings if you've got a spot that needs this kind of attention. Rough ground, old stumps, an area that just needs to be cleared and leveled - that's exactly what we do.
