Every job starts somewhere. Before anything gets built, planted, or graded, the ground has to be ready - and that means clearing out whatever is in the way. Stumps, roots, overgrowth, rocky soil. It's not glamorous work, but it's the work that makes everything else possible.

We run a Takeuchi TB335R mini excavator on jobs like this. It's a compact machine, but don't let the size fool you - it's got the power to pull stumps, break through root systems, and move material efficiently. The compact footprint also means we can work in tighter spaces without tearing up surrounding areas that need to stay intact.

What you're looking at here is active clearing work. Exposed roots, rocky earth, stumps getting pulled - that's the reality of prepping a wooded site. It's messy in the moment, but that's what it takes to get a clean slate. We know how to read the ground and work through it without cutting corners.

Getting the groundwork done right from the start saves a lot of headaches down the road. Whether someone is prepping for a build, opening up a yard, or just reclaiming space that's been overgrown for years - the process is the same. Bring the right equipment, work methodically, and leave the site in a condition that's actually usable.

Our light excavation work covers clearing, grading, and all the groundwork that comes with it. If you've got a piece of land that needs attention and you're not sure where to start, that's exactly the kind of thing we're used to sorting out.
