Water sitting against your foundation is one of those problems that's easy to ignore - until it isn't. Moisture that has nowhere to go will eventually find its way into your basement, erode your soil, and cause real structural headaches over time. The fix is usually simpler than people think, and it makes a big difference.

Here's what we were working with - a side yard that had no system in place to move water away from the home. We started by laying new drainage pipe right along the foundation line, giving runoff a direct path away from the house. Under that pipe, we put down a clean layer of weed barrier fabric to keep everything in place long-term.

Then came the stone bed. We filled the area with a sharp gravel that does two things at once - it lets water pass through quickly instead of pooling, and it gives the whole side of the home a clean, finished look. What used to be a problem area now has a purpose-built drainage channel that handles whatever gets thrown at it.

The detail work matters on a job like this. The pipe is seated tight along the foundation, the stone is graded evenly, and the edging gives it a defined border where the gravel meets the lawn. It's functional hardscaping - not just a fix, but something that actually looks good too. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.

If you've got standing water near your foundation or a side yard that just stays soggy after rain, this kind of drainage setup is worth a serious look. It protects your home, cleans up the space, and requires almost zero maintenance once it's done.
